Welcome to Triple Threat Basketball

TRIPLE THREAT TRAINING

The Triple Threat training is a complimentary blend of basketball fundamentals, advanced techniques, and team concepts - executed in a competitive setting and taught at game speed. We follow a philosophy of “Don’t leave anything on the court!” We also teach kids how to train themselves when on their own. In order to maximize individual talent and ability, we supplement our basketball practices with agility and plyometric training. Our goal is to produce players who will compete and excel in their future high school programs. With this goal in mind, we want our players to have mastered the fundamentals and concepts of basketball, prior to joining their high school teams.

PHILOSOPHY AND GOALS

The goal of Triple Threat Basketball is to make your son or daughter a better basketball player. As your son or daughter gets started with Triple Threat, our initial goal is to get them to enjoy the game of basketball. From there, we work to teach the fundamentals and team concepts of the game. Next, we will progress by teaching the advanced techniques, methods, and strategies of individual and team basketball. Our programs offer a wide variety of activities to help accomplish this.

We feel success is derived through the attainment of goals by both the individual and the team. The higher the goals of the individual, the harder one must work to achieve them. Nothing great is accomplished without a lot of dedication, sweat, and persistence. For athletes, winning equates to fun and thus their joy is achieved through individual success and team victory. A player might find success and self-fulfillment as a rebounder, passer, defender, ball handler, or team leader. What players must realize is that individual success is not related, only to scoring. Each member of a winning team plays a valuable role that is necessary for a team to flourish. We emphasize in all our teaching, the building blocks necessary for team success. We also believe our young athletes should be praised and encouraged - through positive reinforcement, for all of the “little” successes they have, that help lead a team to victory.

Regarding our Club Teams, we expect our players to represent their coaches, parents, teammates, and the Club in a positive manner. We emphasize playing with great intensity, desire, and poise. The greatest compliment we can have put toward us is the claim that “we play hard”. With each workout, team practice, and game, we expect our players to progress and take strides toward becoming a better player.

“Triple Threat Basketball has been a fantastic experience for my son. I have seen his overall ability improve dramatically, and I know it is because of this program. Triple Threat has an excellent player to coach ratio, and all of the coaches take an interest in my son’s improvement as a player. Great program!” – Steve Lopinto

“The Triple Threat program has really helped my son to improve many aspects of his game. Ed Merk, along with his assistant coaches, have put together a very thorough program ranging from agility, shooting, passing, scrimmages, and other drills I am unable to name. The highlights, of course, are the tournaments that are set up where the boys can put to use the skills they learn. This program mixes the intensity that comes with the game, teaching plays along with improving ball handling and moving down the court as a team. As a parent, I appreciate his(Ed Merk) genuine interest in helping a player improve no matter what level they are at. An awesome program!” – Sharon Hall

“My son Lance has been playing on Coach Merk’s travel team for a couple of years and he went to Coach Merk’s Triple Threat Basketball Academy regularly.
